Grading Scheme

The Evaluation System for Degree Seeking Students  

  

 

The Evaluation System for degree seeking students at Caucasus University is separate and different for the First year and years Second to Fourth.   

  

The System is divided into two parts – Interim Evaluation and Final Evaluation.  

  

The overall score for one course is 100. 100 Score is divided into two parts: 

 

  • Interim Evaluation –70 points
  • Final Evaluation – 30 points

  

  • Interim Evaluation is worth 70 points (which includes- Midterm Examination, presentations, quizzes, group work, etc. Interim Evaluation is performed before the final examination).
  • Final Evaluation is worth 30 points (which includes Final Examination).

 

First Year:  

 

First year students should overcome 51% barrier in both parts:

 

  • Interim Evaluation – 51% out of 70 points (which is 36 in scores)
  • Final Evaluation – 51% out of 30 points (which is 15 in scores)

 

  • In order to be allowed to the Final Examination it is mandatory to accumulate 51% out of 70 points in Interim Evaluation.  
  • In order to pass the Final Examination and earn ECTS, it is mandatory to accumulate 51% out of 30 points in Final Examination.  

  

Note: student has a right to retake the final examination only once, in case he/she scored minimum 41 points totally interim and final examination grades.

  

Years Second to Fourth:  

 

Second year and above students should overcome 59% barrier in both parts: 

 

  • Interim Evaluation – 59% out of 70 points (which is 41 in scores)
  • Final Evaluation – 60% out of 30 points (which is 18 in scores)

 

  • In order to be allowed to the Final Examination it is mandatory to accumulate 59% out of 70 points in Interim
  • In order to pass the Final Examination and earn ECTS, it is mandatory to accumulate 60% out of 30 points in Final Examination.

 

Note: student has a right to retake the final examination only once, in case he/she scored minimum 41 points totally interim and final examination grades.
