Seminar - “Findings of the expedition studying cultural monuments of Tao-Klarjeti currently located in Turkey"

On September 26, Caucasus University held a science seminar for the youth of Samtredia within the framework of “the Festival of Innovation and Science” organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The seminar was dedicated to the project of Caucasus University on scientific exploration of Tao-Klarjeti. Since 2014, the University, in cooperation with the Research Center of Georgian Tourism Resources, has been carrying out intensive exploration expeditions. During the period, 23 expeditions were organized and hundreds of Georgian cultural monuments not known until recently have been revealed. The information is relayed in the reports of the expeditions of 2014 and 2015; eventually information on the monuments of Tao-Klarjeti will be issued in 11 volumes.

 

A photo exhibition on Tao-Klarjeti was held for the youth living in Samtredia; a seminar was held on the prospects and newly explored monuments of the region; in the end a film depicting accomplishments of the expedition was shown. The meeting was headed by the President of Caucasus University Dr. Kakha Shengelia, the head of the Science Department Prof. Teimuraz Khutsishvil and expedition team members: Levan Tsikarishvili, Shalva Koghuashvili and Ana Imedashvili.

 

At present, Georgia is playing host to the International Festival of Innovation and Science offering its visitors more than 150 events, including seminars, conferences and science picnics in the regions of Georgia. The festival takes place from September 24 to October 8.
