CU Project Wins International Grant Competition Funded by the European Commission

The Caucasus University project is the winner of the international grant competition sponsored by the European Commission.

 

Within the framework of the winning project - "Security Education Center for Unified Resilience and Effective Communications (SECURE)" - three laboratories will be established in 3 universities of Georgia - the largest quantum laboratory in the region, AI/ML lab, research laboratory of 5G/6G networks.

 

Within the framework of the project, researchers and staff will focus on developing scientific-practical research and educational courses in the field of security. The laboratories will be interconnected, allowing for coordinated efforts. Member universities of the EU consortium will support local universities and actively participate in both the creation of the laboratories and the research process.

 

From Georgia, Caucasus University is participating as the project coordinator in the country, leading the creation of the largest quantum laboratory in the region. Additionally, the team from Caucasus University will be responsible for the development of the quantum and post-quantum security course and the research of relevant issues in Georgia.

 

The project is led by Professor Maksim Yavichi, with participation from Giorgi Akhalaia, Archil Shengelia, Sergo Simonov, Akaki Kapanadze, and Oksana Kovalchuk.

 

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, a beneficiary of the project, will establish a 5G/6G laboratory. Another beneficiary, Akaki Tsereteli State University, will create the AI/ML security laboratory.

 

Project partners from Georgia are: Internet Development Initiative, Cyber ​​Security Scientific Association, Integra LLC and NGS Group.

 

The international partners of the project are: Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), University of Valladolid (Spain).

 

On the Ukrainian side, the project will involve the following institutions: National Aviation University (local coordinator of the project, 5G/6G laboratory); Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (Beneficiary, AI/ML Laboratory); and Cherkasy State Technological University (Beneficiary, Quantum Laboratory).
