Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation is announcing a competition for grant funding of the 2018 doctoral program.

Aim of the competition:

 

Development of intellectual potential and training of highly qualified scientific staff, targeted use of intellectual potential in higher education institutions, creating appropriate conditions for scientific research, Cooperation with doctoral students and universities with higher education and research institutions abroad and in this way raising the quality of higher education in Georgia and integrating young scientists into the international scientific community. Identify successful, talented young researchers and promote their doctoral research in line with modern international standards. Integration of young Georgian scientists in international research projects and increase of the quality of scientific research in Georgia. Creating appropriate conditions for the scientific research of young scientists.

The main conditions of the competition:

 

Projects can be submitted to the doctoral education program grant competition in the following fields:

 

  • Exact and Natural Sciences
  • Engineering and Technology
  • Medicine and Health Sciences
  • Agrarian Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Humanitarian sciences
  • Sciences of Georgia

 

Financial requirements:

 

  • The amount requested from the foundation during one reporting period (6 months) should not exceed 10,500 GEL
  • Doctoral scholarship in one reporting period (6 months) should not exceed 5250 GEL

 

Project duration: minimum 6 and maximum 36 months (according to the terms of the competition).

Competition administration schedule

April 5, 2018 - Announcement of the competition in accordance with the established rules;

April 24, May 24 and June 12 - Group Consultations;

June 14 - Deadline for submitting questions by e-mail;

From June 1 to June 20 at 16:00 - electronic registration of projects in GMUS;

June 21 until 16:00 - Submission of the application for participation in the competition to the Chancellery of the Foundation

June-July - Technical Expertise - Determining the compliance of registered projects with the competition conditions and requirements;

July - publication of midterm results - information on the removal of projects submitted in violation of the terms of the competition;

July-August - Evaluation of projects submitted in compliance with the terms of the competition, compilation of a unified ranking list and identification of the winners;

August-September - approval of the winning project (s) for financing by the individual administrative-legal act of the General Director of the Foundation;

September - Publication of competition results;

 

September-October - Concluding a grant agreement with the winning doctoral students.

 

It is recommended that individuals and legal entities involved in the project be registered in the Unified Grant Management System (GMUS) involved in the project prior to the electronic registration of projects.
