Abstract:
In Georgia, the number of patients visiting family doctors is relatively low, one of the main reasons for which is their low trust in primary care physicians.
The objective of the study was to examine patients’ attitudes toward various aspects of trust in family physicians and identify the factors that determine their level of trust in the physician-patient relationship.
The results of the study showed that trust is influenced by the patient’s age, gender, level of education and satisfaction with services. High levels of trust encourage patients to consult their family doctor, provide them with complete information about their health status, and follow medical advice.
A family doctor who explains disease treatment and prevention issues in understandable language, ensures continuous medical care, and actively engages the patient in the treatment process, helps build patient trust.
