Public Lecture – “Foundations of Modern Oncology: Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatment”

On February 26, a public lecture titled “Foundations of Modern Oncology: Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatment” was held at Caucasus University, organized by the Caucasus School of Medicine. The lecture was delivered by Tornike Gakhokidze, Affiliated Assistant Professor at Caucasus University, oncologic surgeon, and specialist in skin and soft tissue surgery.

 

During the lecture, the speaker discussed the key causes of oncological diseases, modern diagnostic methods, and contemporary treatment approaches used in clinical practice.

 

Particular attention was devoted to several of the most prevalent forms of cancer, including lung, breast, and thyroid cancer. The discussion covered their major risk factors, the importance of early screening, and the latest therapeutic options available in modern oncology.

 

The lecture aimed to share contemporary knowledge in the field of oncology with students and the wider interested audience, while also emphasizing the critical role of early detection in improving treatment outcomes and reducing cancer-related risks.
