The Caucasus University project "Challenges of the Primary Health Care System in Timely Treatment and Hospitalization of Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction in Georgia" is the winner of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia's grant competition "Competition for financing master's educational and research projects with a grant".
The project is led by Lika Arakishvili, a master's student at the Caucasus School of Medicine and Hea;thcare. Tengiz Verulava, an affiliated professor at Caucasus University, doctor of medicine, and editor-in-chief of the internationally referred journal "Health Care Policy, Economics and Sociology," serves as the project's head.
The project, submitted in the scientific field of "Medicine and Health Sciences," secured the first-place position and received an evaluation of 26 points out of 27.
The project aims examine the primary health care challenges in Georgia concerning the treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction during the pre-hospital stage, and, when required, hospitalization. The results of the study are discussed at the level of primary care, taking into account the international experience and trends in the medical care of patients with acute myocardial infarction.
This project will be the first attempt to study the role of the primary health care system in a complex (cultural, social, economic) perspective for proper treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction in Georgia and their timely hospitalization in case of need.
