Caucasus University Professor Davit Tinikashvili Wins 2026 Rustaveli–DAAD Scholarship Grant

Davit Tinikashvili, Affiliated Professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Caucasus University, has been selected as a winner of the 2026 Rustaveli–DAAD Scholarship Grant Competition, jointly administered by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

 

Within the framework of his research project, “Imperial Orthodoxy and Its Limits: Russian Church Policy and Georgian Openness toward Catholic Christianity (17th–19th Centuries),” Professor Tinikashvili will undertake a five-month research stay at Goethe University Frankfurt.

 

The study will examine Russian Church policy and Georgian society’s attitudes toward Catholic Christianity between the 17th and 19th centuries. A scholarly article based on the research will be published in an international peer-reviewed journal.
