7 December 2022

Tamar Sharabidze, PhD, Associate Professor of TSU, gave a public lecture on December 5 in the CU bookshop "Librarea". The event was organized by undergraduate Georgian philology students together with Mariam Manjgaladze, an affiliated professor of Caucasus University.

The public lecture's subject was " Nikoloz Baratashvili's final years of life."

Attending the lecture were Caucasus University faculty members and students. Tamar Sharabidze gave the audience an overview of the fascinating events in Nikoloz Baratashvili's life that took place in Nakhchivan and Ganja. Since the professor's research was based on the scholarly materials discovered in the Nakhchivan and Ganja archives, intriguing details concerning the friendship and relationship between Nikoloz Baratashvili and the Azerbaijani poet Goncha Beym were presented. It turned out that the letter that Baratashvili wrote to Maiko Orbeliani revealed the author's identity and body of work. The audience heard a few poems from the works of Goncha Beym and Nikoloz Baratashvili.

The event honored Nikoloz Baratashvili on the occasion of his 205th birthday. The works written by Professor Tamar Sharabidze were donated as a gift to the Caucasus University library.
