On June 10, a presentation of the book The European Union as a Global Actor: Institutions, Values and Interests by Ilia State University Professor Giorgi Gvalia was held at Librarea, the bookstore of Caucasus University.
The book was prepared within the framework of the EU-funded project Jean Monnet Chair at Ilia State University (2023–2026).
The author spoke about the role, capabilities and limitations of the European Union as a global actor. He introduced the audience to the key issues explored in detail in the book, including: what kind of international actor the European Union is; what instruments it uses to exercise external influence; how autonomous its foreign and security policy is; what explains its effectiveness in certain areas; what accounts for its limitations in others; and how these dynamics are reflected in specific regional contexts, including the South Caucasus.
The presentation concluded with a question-and-answer session and an engaging discussion.
