Sunday School for Teachers within the Jean Monnet Chair “European Union for Peace, Prosperity and Security”

The Jean Monnet Chair  “European Union for Peace, Prosperity and Security” (Jean Monnet Chair: 101175522 - EU-PPS) for the third time in the spring semester of the 2024/2025 academic year hosted Sunday School “Current International Challenges and the Europeanisation of Georgia”.

 

More than twenty teachers from public and private schools, including IDPs and ethnic minority schools participated in it. David Natroshvili, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Caucasus University, welcomed the Sunday School participants.

 

The Sunday School was conducted by the Chair’s  Professor Guranda Tchelidze. She told about the history of the European Union, Georgia-EU relations,  Russia's aggression against Ukraine and its impact on international processes. The EU enlargement packages for 2023 and 2024 were discussed, as well as problems and opportunities related to the Europeanisation of Georgia today.  The Speaker also placed particular emphasis on the accomplishments and benefits that the European Union has realised in terms of maintaining peace, promoting prosperity, and ensuring security. The meeting was held in accordance with the developed module and agenda for  Sunday School.  Participants had the opportunity to discuss questions on issues of their interest.
