Russia's Caucasian policy and Georgia

The Russian-language publication will explore the relationship between the Kingdom of Kartl-Kakheti and the Russian Empire during 1783-1798. It aims to illustrate the evolving relationship between the two nations and analyze why the Russian Empire failed to shield the Kingdom of Kartl-Kakheti from Iranian aggression. The monograph argues that the tragedy of the Kartli-Kakheti kingdom was not a result of Erekle II's flawed foreign policy but rather stemmed from the Russian Empire's Caucasian policy, which did not foresee the existence of an independent Georgian state in the South Caucasus.
