The IX Annual International Scientific Conference of Caucasus University - "Science for Sustainable Development 2024"

On Octomber 3-4, the IX Annual International Scientific Conference of Caucasus University - "Science for Sustainable Development 2024" was held at the Caucasus University, which was supported by the United Nations and was thematically related to the goals of sustainable development, as well as the challenges facing the modern world, which is a global agenda due to the variety and urgency of the issues.

 

The conference was opened by Boris (Buba) Lezhava, vice-president of the Caucasus University in the field of research and strategic development, who welcomed the audience. Also, at the beginning of the conference, the following addressed the audience and held a panel discussion: Renato Pereira, ISCTE University Institute of Lisbon; Goran Bandov - University of Zagreb and Tomislav Mestrovic - University of Washington.

 

Objectives of the conference is: Promotion and encouragement of interdisciplinary and intercultural research based on Sustainable Development Goals; Cumulation of scientific news and representation of them to the academic community; Enhancement and support of communication among scientists of different generations; Outline the role of young scientists; Stimulation of scientific linkages between Georgian and foreign scientists.

 

The conference is held annually and is attended by researchers from various higher educational institutions of Georgia, as well as foreign educational, scientific and research centers.

 

Within the framework of the conference, the award ceremony of the three highest performing researchers based on the results of the academic year of 2023-2024 was held. The President of the Caucasus University, Kakha Shengelia, presented the "Best Scientist Award of the Caucasus University" and monetary vouchers to the winning scientists. The winning scientists are: gold award - Professor Maksim Iavich; Silver - Professor Tengiz Verulava and Bronze - Professor Erekle Pirveli.
