On 26 May, 2021, Department of Scientific Research and Development of Sokhumi State University, as well as the Department of International Relations, organized an international scientific conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Georgia's independence.

The conference was attended by researchers from various universities of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Guranda Chelidze, an affiliated professor at the Caucasus University, coordinator of the Erasmus + Jean Monnet Project TEESS in Caucasus School of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented a paper “About the teaching of European Association Process in Georgia - Following the One Example of a Jean Monnet Project “Triangle Effect of European Studies at schools” (TEESS)”.  

She introduced the activities and results implemented and achieving within the project in ethnic minority region and IDP’s public schools, the textbook for history and civic education teachers “European Association Process in Georgia” published on Georgian, English, Azerbaijan and Armenian languages. Prof. Chelidze spoke about the necessity to deepen European teaching in schools, to implement prepared textbook in the teaching process. Speaker highlighted the difficulties in this area, including strengthening state language teaching in ethnic minority regions, more intensive cooperation between the schools, universities and the Ministry of Education and Science.  One of the main issue was importance of using of non-formal education component. The guests participating in the conference expressed their readiness to develop and implement joint projects in the future.
