TechCamp Capstone Conference

On July 13, Caucasus University hosted a capstone conference of the Tech Camp Tbilisi project, led by Caucasus University Associate Professor Giorgi Jologua and Director of Project Management Department - Akaki Kapanadze.

 

At the conference, Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijani participants presented implemented projects, discussed the results and talked about prospects in the field of media literacy. In addition, panel discussions were held, where the participants went over the integration of media literacy competencies into formal education, challenges and prospects based on the example of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan and the role of journalists in the ongoing processes. In the final part of the event, a workshop was held on the topic: Reflect and Innovate - lessons learned and future activities. At the end of the event participants were awarded certificates.

 

TechCamp is organized by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, and its main goal is to combat disinformation and develop media literacy in the Caucasus region (Countering Disinformation Throughout the Caucasus).

 

TechCamp took over the U.S. Department of State in 2010 and has since implemented more than 40 TechCamp workshops around the world, training more than 2,100 participants from more than 110 countries. The 2019 TechCamp program was moved to the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
