Empowering Wine & Cuisine Tourism through Education, Innovation, and Collaboration
(GastroTour)
The Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project “Empowering Wine & Cuisine Tourism through Education, Innovation, and Collaboration” (GastroTour) aims to modernize the wine and culinary tourism industries.
This project is an international collaborative initiative that brings together universities, industry leaders, and organizations engaged in the development of the wine and culinary sectors.
Its mission is to develop innovative and digital educational solutions and tools that support sustainable economic and social development. By leveraging education, industry partnerships, and digital transformation, the project empowers students, professionals, and businesses to thrive in an ever-changing tourism landscape.
GastroTour addresses the challenges of human resource shortages and the need for upskilling in the wine and culinary tourism sectors, particularly in Georgia and South Africa.
The objectives of the project are to:
- Develop dynamic digital educational programs that integrate tourism, culinary arts, the wine industry, and cultural heritage;
- Establish sustainable university–industry partnerships that support lifelong learning and local development;
- Create innovative digital tools that help businesses assess their models, receive consultations, and promote inclusion within the culinary tourism sector.
Alongside Caucasus University, the project involves partner institutions from the Czech Republic, Portugal, Spain, and South Africa. The project is coordinated by Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University (TESAU).
