ABOUT THE PROJECT

 

Integrating EU Models of Media Literacy Education into Georgian Academic Sphere

 

In 2023 a three-year-long project "Integrating EU Models of Media Literacy Education into Georgian Academic Sphere" prepared through collaboration of Caucasus School of Media and Caucasus School of Education won the Erasmus + program Jean Monnet module competition. The author of the project is George Jologua, associate professor at Caucasus University and the manager of the scientific-research center of Caucasus School of Media.

 

The main aims of the project are to promote EU values and support the development of teaching and research.

 

During the project, Caucasus University students and interested beneficiaries will have the opportunity to study and deepen their knowledge of European models of integration media literacy in formal education. Various events are planned during the 3-year program:

 

  • Development and teaching of a new subject "European Models of Media Literacy Education" for students at Caucasus School of Education.

 

  • Organizing a summer school “EU VS. Disinformation" for high school students at Caucasus School of Media.

 

  • Holding monthly meetings with schoolteachers to raise awareness about European approaches and models of integrating media literacy competence across curriculum.

 

  • Conducting long-term research to study which European model of integrating media literacy across formal education can be more effective in Georgia.
