Babeș-Bolyai University (BBU) is organizing international annual conference „Governance, Intelligence and Security”- Understanding Border Securitization in Contemporary Societies, 18-20 November 2021.
Border securitization remains a salient issue for many countries in the context of recent domestic and international political developments. In regard with Important waves of transnational migration, the management of post-conflict areas, the spread of terror attacks, it still remains under-explored. This conference aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and a better understanding of current situations, and to bring together works addressing to the core elements of border securitization.
Both early career scholars (PhD candidates) and experienced researchers can submit research papers on the following topics:
- Migration and border securitization;
- The role of international actors in shaping border securitization;
- Territorial rivalries and geopolitical challenges;
- The effects of border securitization on politics or economics;
- Border securitization and national security;
- Border management and international cooperation;
- The impact of terrorism or unconventional threats on border securitization.
