Competition - Elisabeth Orbeliani award for the best Georgian student translation

On July 8, in the Orbelian palace, the presidential administration presented the award for the best Georgian student translation established by the president, in honour of one of the founders and the first lecturer of Tbilisi State University, a woman, philanthropist, poet and translator as well as the hostess of the Orbeliani Palace., Elisabeth Orbeliani.

 

Students of different Georgian universities took part in the competition. At the first stage of the competition, a special commission was created at Caucasus University, the chairman of which was Khatuna Basilashvili, Affiliated Associate Professor of the Caucasus School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Director of the Foreign Language Center, Head of the English Language Department.

 

The members of the commission were:

 

Mariam Manjgaladze - affiliated professor of the Caucasus School of Humanities and Social Sciences;

Mikheil Antadze - Affiliated Associate Professor of the Caucasus School of Humanities and Social Sciences;

Manana Forchkhidze - guest lecturer at Caucasus University;

Tamar Lomadze - Associate Professor of the Caucasus School of Humanities and Social Sciences;

Manana Matiashvili - guest lecturer at Caucasus University;

Inga Zhgenti - guest lecturer at Caucasus University.

 

The Caucasus University jury selected Giorgi Karkuzashvili, an undergraduate student of the Caucasus School of Humanities and Social Sciences, who took part in the competition on behalf of the university. He was given a certificate of participating.

 

The purpose of the competition is to promote translation activities among young people and encourage creative initiatives.
