International Conference: "Beginning of a New Era – the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921)"

On June 1-2, Caucasus University hosted an International Conference - Beginning of a New Era – the Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921) held in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of declaration of independence of Georgia. The conference in which more than 70 scientists and scholars from Georgian and foreign institutions took part was broken down into History, Law, Economics, Science and Culture Sections.

 

The conference was opened by Dr. Kakha Shengelia, the President of Caucasus University, whose welcome speech was followed by speeches of the Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia Dr. Roin Metreveli and the former head of the Georgian Community in France Mr. Otar Pataridze.

 

The aim of the conference was to promote research and raise awareness on this important period of Georgian history, attract young scientists, establish international links between researchers and carry out future projects. The conference reports will be published in the form of a book.

 

The conference was closed by the deputy-speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Mr. Zviad Dzidziguri. The participants were awarded certificates.
