Presentation of the book "Criminal Law of Tourism"

31 July 2025

On July 16, Caucasus University hosted the presentation of the book “Criminal Law of Tourism.” The event was attended by the head of the DAAD Tbilisi Regional Office along with representatives of the academic staff from various universities.

The book is the result of a winning project funded internally by Caucasus University and initiated by Dr. Irine Kherkheulidze, an affiliated professor at the School of Law.

As part of the project, and later as co-authors of the book, two distinguished scholars collaborated with Dr. Kherkheulidze: Dr. Bernd Heinrich, Professor of Criminal Law at Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (Germany) and Dr. Ketevan Mchedlishvili-Hedrich, Professor at the University of Georgia. Their contributions greatly enriched the work and are appreciated.

This project, implemented within the framework of international cooperation, represents an important step in the development of the emerging field of criminal law in tourism and highlights Georgian–German academic collaboration.

The book’s title reflects the importance of the research conducted, but its true distinction lies in its novelty, interdisciplinary nature, and comparative legal approach, all achieved through this international collaboration.

The project is also important in that, as a result of its implementation, a new course "Criminal Law of Tourism" will be offered to students of the Caucasus University School of Law at the master's level.
