President of Caucasus University, Dr. Kakha Shengelia, and Vice President for Internationalization, Irena Melua, visited Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University (DCCU) in Bucharest, Romania, strengthening academic cooperation between the two institutions.
During the visit, Dr. Shengelia participated in the Georgia-Romania Forum, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Georgia in Romania and Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University. The forum brought together students, faculty members, and academic leaders to discuss educational cooperation and internationalization opportunities between Georgia and Romania. As part of the forum , Dr. Shengelia delivered a presentation titled “Insights into Studies in Georgia: Challenges and Opportunities: Why Internationalization is Important.” In his remarks, he highlighted Georgia’s growing role as an international education destination, the importance of global academic partnerships, and Caucasus University’s commitment to comprehensive internationalization.
The event also featured a keynote address by Ms. Tamar Beruchashvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Romania, and was moderated by Dr. Marja-Liisa Tenhunen, Vice-Rector for Internationalization at Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University.
During the visit, the delegation met with Professor Corina Dumitrescu, President and Rector of Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University, to discuss opportunities for expanding academic collaboration, including joint initiatives and student engagement. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Caucasus University and Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University, marking a new step in strengthening institutional ties and developing future collaborative projects.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to international academic cooperation and the development of partnerships between Georgian and Romanian higher education institutions, President Corina Dumitrescu awarded Dr. Kakha Shengelia the Honor Medal of Dimitrie Cantemir, ceremony took place at Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University.
The visit also included cultural activities and meetings with members of the university community, further reinforcing academic and cultural connections between Georgia and Romania.
Caucasus University continues to expand its international partnerships and strengthen its presence in the global academic community through collaborations with leading institutions across Europe and beyond.
