On December 10, a public lecture titled “David Marshall Lang’s Contribution to Kartvelian Studies” was held under the auspices of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The lecture was delivered by Sveta Barbakadze, Doctor of Philology and Invited Lecturer at Caucasus University.

The event focused on an in-depth examination of the British Kartvelologist David Marshall Lang’s 1956 publication, Lives and Legends of the Georgian Saints. The lecture presented a comparative analysis of ten Georgian hagiographical works translated into English by Lang.

As part of the public lecture, particular attention was given to the linguistic, stylistic, and structural features of Lang’s translations, as well as their degree of fidelity to the original Georgian texts.
