On October 22, 26, and 27, Caucasus University, in collaboration with the Georgian Psychoanalytic Space Association, hosted a series of seminars dedicated to psychoanalysis and psychopathology.
The seminars were led by French psychoanalysts Olivier Douville and Catherine Saladin, who introduced participants to key topics in psychoanalytic theory and clinical practice.
The first seminar was conducted by Olivier Douville, a French psychoanalyst, clinical psychologist, and anthropologist. His presentation focused on the specificities of transference in psychosis and the contributions of the Hungarian school of psychoanalysis to the development of psychoanalytic psychopathology. The speaker paid particular attention to the connections between severe psychological trauma, hallucinations, and psychosis.
The second seminar, also led by Olivier Douville, was dedicated to childhood autism and infantile psychosis. The speaker explored the historical development of autism as a diagnostic category, along with its clinical and theoretical foundations. He also highlighted the significant contributions of psychiatrists and psychoanalysts who have shaped the understanding of autism and the development of differential diagnosis.
The third seminar in the series was led by French psychoanalyst Catherine Saladin, who has been actively involved in the development of psychoanalysis in Georgia, particularly child psychoanalysis, for many years.
Her presentation focused on the methodology, theoretical foundations, and clinical practice of psychoanalytic therapy with children. She enriched the discussion with examples from her own clinical practice, providing participants with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the practical applications of theoretical approaches.
The seminar series is organized through a collaboration between Caucasus University and the Georgian Psychoanalytic Space Association. It aims to promote the exchange of professional knowledge, encourage theoretical discussions, and introduce international expertise in the fields of psychoanalysis and psychopathology.
The seminar series will continue during the 2027 academic semester.
