Summary event of Georgian language days

On April 15, at 16:00. Kakha Shengelia, president of Caucasus University, opened the summary event of the "I love Georgian - my state language" project.

 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra, addressed the audience in Georgian  and spoke about the importance of knowing the language in depth; He expressed hope that very soon, the Georgian language will become a full-fledged member of the family of European languages, which will better contribute to its development and protection. The event was attended by: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia - Anna Lieberg, scientists from Sweden, Turkey, different regions of Georgia and other distinguished guests.

 

Prof. Mariam Manjgaladze, the author of the project, spoke about Caucasus University's strategic vision, which includes the promotion of the Georgian language and culture, scientific and cognitive events, literary-calligraphic salon meetings, quizzes, etc. She also provided an overview of the significant events hosted by the university throughout the year.

 

The "Supporter of the Georgian Language" award, established by Caucasus University, was bestowed upon Professor Karina Vamling from Malmö University in Sweden for her efforts to promote Georgian language and culture. Professor Vamling graciously shared insights into her research and projects spanning several years and expressed gratitude for the award.

 

Professor Mariam Manjgaladze introduced Eter Tataraidze's latest poetry collection, "On my way to Tao-Klarjeti," to the audience. Eter Tataraidze, a poet, researcher, and folklorist, reminisced about her expedition days in Tao-Klarjeti and recited poems from her new collection. The publication of the book was facilitated by Caucasus University and received support from the President of Georgia, Mrs. Salome Zourabichvili.

 

The screening of the documentary film "Say Hello to Tiflis" took place (authors: Dea Badzaghua and Nanuka Kokhodze).

 

A video address from academician Mzekala Shanidze to the students was presented.

 

Certificates were awarded to students and entrants who participated in the "Language, Culture, Society" student scientific conference, spelling competition, and quiz. The winners received educational vouchers worth 2,000, 1,500, and 1,000 GEL. Lithuanian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia, Andrius Kalindra, presented gifts to the winners of the dialectological quiz on behalf of the Friends of Georgian of the Lithuanian Embassy and Lithuanian Parliament.

 

The public viewed the exhibition: calligraphic samples of students and members of the "Georgian Calligraphers Association" and photos depicting the expedition "In the Footsteps of Grigol Khandzteli".

 

At the end of the event, the folklore ensemble of Caucasus University performed Georgian folk songs.
