Time Dictates: Youth in Museums

On June 5, in celebration of the International Museum Day, the Valeri Arkania Art Gallery hosted a conference for students and pupils “Time Dictates: Youth in Museums”.

 

Since 1977, May 18 has been dedicated to celebrating International Museum Day, by the decision of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). On this day, museums in 150 countries organize open days, scientific conferences and other events.

 

Caucasus University School of Humanities and Social Sciences students along with students of the LEPL Abkhazia Public School No. 2 presented reports on museums both in Georgia and around the world.

 

The conference, united by a common idea, was opened by the school’s director Kristina Avaliani and Caucasus University professor Guranda Chelidze.

 

The conference participants were addressed by Khatuna Shonia, Head of the Educational Programs Service of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and Nino Khvleuri, Administrative Director of Educational Programs of the Caucasus University School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

 

At the end of the conference, Caucasus University awarded attendees certificates of participation. They also received commemorative gifts from Caucasus University, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, and the Agency for Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Abkhazia.

 

The conference was held by Caucasus University under the patronage of the President of the University, Kakha Shengelia.
