In Georgia, the interest in the specialization of family medicine is decreasing, which has a negative impact on the number of properly qualified family doctors. The aim of the study is to assess the attitudes of medical students towards the family doctor profession. Research has shown that the decision to choose a family doctor profession is influenced by many factors: length of residency, ability to build long-term relationships with patients, influence of family or community, ability to solve patients' problems in many areas of medicine, level of difficulty of the medical practice, job placement, working in rural places and the ability to balance a career and personal life. The profession of family doctor is less popular in Georgia, which is mainly due to the stereotypical attitude of the society. It is necessary to popularize the profession of family doctor, to introduce effective methods of financing and a flexible model of continuing professional education in family medicine.
