15 December 2022

A salon evening commemorating the 205th anniversary of Nikoloz Baratashvili's birth was organized by students from the Caucasus University undergraduate Georgian Philology program.

The literary evening was held in the style of the nineteenth century, with classical music accompanying it, and a unique atmosphere was created. Students shared romantic or tragic stories from Baratashvili's biography, as well as poems and letters.

Professor Levan Berdzenishvili of Ilia State University spoke about Baratashvili's life and work, his tragic demise and personal worries, vision, footsteps, and influence. It was fascinating to meet the artist behind Baratashvili's portrait, Levan Choghoshvili, and learn how and from what materials he created the poet's portrait. Davit Natroshvili, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Caucasus University, as well as Professor Mariam Manjgaladze of Caucasus University and Theona Tabatadze, curator of the Nikoloz Baratashvili Memorial Museum (The Union of Tbilisi Municipal Museums), attended the event.

The evening honoring Nikoloz Baratashvili was attended by Caucasus University professors and teachers, students, and invited guests.

On the initiative of the Georgian philology undergraduate students and with the assistance of the university, a fascinating, imaginative, and wonderful evening was held.
