Students Take a Study Trip to Bolnisi

6 October 2026

On October 2, students from the Art History program at Caucasus University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences visited Bolnisi as part of their coursework.

Led by Ekaterine Kvachantiradze, lecturer in Georgian Art History, the students explored Bolnisi Sioni Cathedral and the churches of Bolnisi-Kapanakchi and Tsughrughasheni, gaining firsthand insight into these significant examples of Georgian architecture.

During the visit, students presented their coursework and put classroom learning into practice by examining the monuments firsthand, gaining a deeper understanding of their historical significance, artistic qualities, and architectural features.

The trip forms part of the course’s program of educational visits. Students had previously visited the Georgian National Museum in Tbilisi, and further trips are planned to several architectural monuments in Kakheti and the Ananuri complex.

The visit was fully funded by Caucasus University.
