Art History: Qualification - Bachelor of Arts.

 

The Bachelor of Arts in Art History program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences provides training for specialists in art history with knowledge and professional skills that meet modern requirements.

 

Graduates of the program will have comprehensive knowledge of the main stages of the development of national and global art, including their interconnections as well as interdisciplinary issues related to art. Students will study the context of national and global cultural processes, issues related to cultural heritage; develop the ability to analyze and research works of art, artistic processes. They will be able to communicate with a professional audience in both their native and English languages ​​on current issues of art history.

 

The range of professional skills for art historians is therefore extensive. This qualification allows for employment in institutions such as:

 

  • Museums and galleries
  • Television
  • Radio
  • Creative industries
  • Online media
  • Government institutions (ministries, municipalities)
  • Publishing houses
  • Non-governmental organizations
  • Foundations
  • International organizations
  • Various online platforms: online art galleries and platforms (SSAtchi Art, Etsy), educational platforms (Udemy, Coursera, Skillshare), Digital art commissions (Upwork, Fiverr), Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, Virtual exhibitions and NFTS (Non-Fungible Tokens) for blockchain-based platforms for Open Sea, Rarible, etc.

The Bachelor of Arts program is composed of 180 ECTS credits, with 60 ECTS credits earned each year and 30 ECTS credits per semester. The program lasts for 3 years.

 

The program assigns 120 ECTS credits to the study of the components of the main field, which includes theoretical and historical subjects aimed at developing general academic competence. Study visits to historical monuments and renowned works of art in live exhibition spaces, both in Georgia and abroad, are integrated into the courses.

 

60 ECTS credits are assigned to the compulsory and elective courses of the free component Namely:

 

  • 28 ECTS credits are allocated to general university compulsory courses
  • 20 ECTS credits are assigned to English language courses
  • 12 ECTS credits are dedicated to optional courses with a flexible component, which provide students with knowledge in various fields and broaden their understanding of the humanities.

 

 

 

A citizen of Georgia with a complete general education has the right to enroll in a bachelor's degree program based on the results of the Unified National Examinations. English is the only foreign language accepted.

 

Admission to undergraduate educational programs without the Unified National Examinations is carried out in accordance with current legislation.

 

Enrollment of foreign citizens and mobility of students in the Bachelor's degree program is possible in accordance with current legislation.

  • From compulsory subjects (History/Fine and Applied Arts/Literature).
