Three-time Emmy-winning American journalist Emily Drew met with students from the Caucasus School of Media to discuss modern challenges facing the media. Among the challenges were disinformation, its role in the American elections, the influence of artificial intelligence on the media, etc.
The guest answered the students' questions and motivated them to work conscientiously in their profession.
Emily Drew: "Journalism has a great role to play in society if it is allowed to do its job."
"When journalism becomes a part of the state system, oligarchy, one-party systems, and dictatorship will follow swiftly. This is because, in such cases, the means of reasoning disappear, and thus society is deprived of the opportunity to criticize those in power."
"Sometimes the criticism we receive as journalists is a compliment. If someone doesn't love you, maybe it's because you're doing great things in your profession."
Emily Drew's meeting with the students was organized with the support of the US Embassy in Georgia.
