Who is a doula?

The term "doula" originates from ancient Greece and means "female servant". Today, the role of a doula is recognized, valued, and in demand worldwide. A doula provides crucial emotional, physical, and informational assistance to women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the initial postpartum phase. Research has consistently demonstrated that having a doula present during childbirth enhances the overall birthing experience, benefiting not only the mother but also the newborn and the entire family.

CADA (Caucasus-Asia Doula Association) is the first organization that introduced the doula profession to Georgia and the region. At the same time, it gained recognition and full membership of European and American organizations (EDN, DONA International). Their goal is to ensure a high professional standard of doulas, support and implement international level services.
