The project is carried out by Caucasus University in partnership with the Research Center of Georgian Culture and Tourist Resources.
Nine expeditions were sent to Turkey to explore Georgian historical regions on the territory of Turkey (Artani, Erusheti, Kola, Calatsio, Poso, Javakheti and a part of Samstke). The expeditions discovered 118 cultural monuments mentioned in historical sources. 144 more were found, the ones which are not yet studied or mentioned in any of the extant written documents.
The collection was published by the grant given by Shota Rustaveli National Research Foundation in 2013 – Georgian Historical Monuments on the territory of Turkey – Klarjeti and Kola-Artani Catalogue. The aim of the project is to help historians, art historians, those interested in historical Geography and Paleontology and all scholars studying Georgian cultural heritage.
