On June 10-12, IESE Business School in Barcelona hosted the European Health Management Association Conference - EHMA 2026.
The event was attended by Caucasus University students Khatia Silakadze and Magda Tsnobiladze, who are enrolled in the Healthcare Management master’s program at Caucasus School of Business and the Public Health master’s program at Caucasus School of Medicine.
The young researchers presented the results of their studies to an international audience. Notably, both projects have received grants from the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and are supervised by Professor Tengiz Verulava.
The following presentations were delivered at the conference:
Khatia Silakadze presented “Assessing Access to Rehabilitation Services for Rare Neurological Diseases in Georgia.” The study aims to identify and analyze existing systemic barriers, compare them with the experience of highly developed countries, and develop evidence-based recommendations to improve public policy and funding mechanisms.
Magda Tsnobiladze presented “Private Health Insurance Incentives for Disease Prevention: Opportunities and Barriers.” The paper examines how the short-term financial interests of private health insurance affect the promotion of disease prevention, and what political and economic conditions are needed for the private insurance system to move beyond simply financing treatment costs and become a fully fledged partner in preventive healthcare.
The conference brought together leading healthcare professionals and researchers from across Europe and addressed a number of current topics, including:
- digital transformation and operational innovation in healthcare;
- leadership for sustainable and safe healthcare;
- innovation in healthcare service management;
- screening and digital diagnostics;
- economic analysis of preventive healthcare and strategic management for system sustainability.
Participation in the conference and engagement with issues of this scale will help our master’s students share international experience and support their further professional development.
