On May 29–30, 2026, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted the international academic conference “EU Integration Perspectives of the Candidate Countries,” organized as part of the Jean Monnet Chair “Closer to the EU.
The conference focused on the legal, institutional, and democratic aspects of European integration from the perspective of candidate countries and brought together 47 participants from 18 universities representing 6 countries, including professors, researchers, and experts.
Two professors from Caucasus University participated in the conference: Guranda Tchelidze and Levan Mosakhlishvili. During the conference, they presented academic papers on current issues related to European integration.
Guranda Tchelidze, a Professor at Caucasus University and representative of the Jean Monnet Chair “European Union for Peace, Prosperity and Security” (EU-PPS), presented a paper titled “Consumer Protection in Georgia: Progress and Challenges under the European Union Enlargement Package (2023-2025).”
Professor Levan Mosakhlishvili presented a paper entitled “The Principle of Legitimate Expectations in EU Administrative Law and Its Approximation in Georgia.”
Particular attention during the conference was devoted to the approximation of national legal systems with European Union legal standards, democratic governance, consumer protection, and contemporary challenges in administrative law. The conference once again highlighted the active involvement of the academic community of Caucasus University in research and educational processes related to European integration.
