CSL Professor Khatuna Burkadze presented a paper on emerging trends in artificial intelligence at the CU International Conference, titled “The Evolution of the Digital World and the Sustainable Development Goals: Transforming Industries and Professions for Sustainable Development.” Her examination of inclusive education through the trends of artificial intelligence highlighted innovative strategies that may inspire the academic community and stakeholders to consider new possibilities for advancing AI and sustainable development.

Dr. Khatuna Burkadze noted, “The Fourth Goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4) aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education while promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. However, achieving this ambition is challenged by structural inequities and limited accessibility. In this context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force with the potential to enhance inclusivity in education. AI can help achieve SDG 4 by fostering digital learning, improving accessibility, promoting linguistic inclusion, and enabling data-driven decision-making within educational institutions.”

“Despite its transformative potential, the implementation of AI in education must adhere to principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability. Protecting data privacy, addressing algorithmic bias, and enhancing digital literacy among all stakeholders are crucial for the responsible integration of AI. Educational institutions should develop robust governance frameworks to ensure the ethical use of AI tools while maintaining human oversight at the heart of educational decision-making,” Dr. Khatuna Burkadze added.
