On December 26, 2023, a student scientific conference took place at Caucasus University, covering diverse and interesting topics. Students: Elene Japaridze, Lizi Mikeltadze, Elene Beridze, Tekla Sikharulidze, Salome Eziashvili, Mariam Gulisashvili, and Nia Gelashvili, presented reports on language, literature, and history based on the analysis of materials obtained during an expedition in Tao-Klarjeti.
The project's scientific head, Prof. Mariam Manjgaladze, introduced the electronic platform dialeqti.cu.edu.ge. This platform has digitized audio and video recordings with relevant documentary material. The website has a search and research tool designed for teaching and research, with the search system developed by Nikoloz Zorbenadze, a student of our university.
A collection of student works was showcased, with included a dialectological questionnaire, an expedition diary, and a small dictionary.
The distinguished member of the expedition - poet, professor Eter Tataraidze read some unique poems from the Tao-Klarjeti cycle.
Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Davit Natroshvili, along with researchers Eka Chikvaidze, Roin Malakmadze, Levan Tsikarishvili, Chabuki Kiria, Eliso Machaidze, and Nika Tskhomelidze shared their perspectives and expressed their genuine emotions regarding the expedition and the conference.
Media School students Dea Badzaghua and Nanuka Kokhodze showcased several episodes from the documentary film "Tifliss Gadaetsi Salami."
The expedition "In the Footsteps of Grigol Khandzteli" was a continuation of the longstanding tradition established at Caucasus University for the study and research of Tao-Klarjeti, initiated by the university president, Kakha Shengelia, and led by Prof. Temur Khutsishvili.
The conference was conducted in a hybrid format, with online participation from members of the Linguistic Circle of the St. Nazari Lezhava Orthodox Christian School of the Patriarchate Georgia, under the guidance of Nino Tonia.
The participating organization of the expedition was The Folklore State Centre of Georgia.
