From July 22-25, the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) hosted its fourth consecutive leadership development workshop for newly elected/appointed presidents and leaders in Aarhus, Denmark. Kakha Shengelia, President of Caucasus University and Chairman of the IAUP Governing Board, participated in the program as a speaker and mentor. He led a panel discussion with colleagues on the topic: "Caring for the Development and Success of Students."
The purpose of the program is to allow current and former rectors, as well as higher education experts from around the world, to support newly elected/appointed presidents who have been in office for one or two years, along with leaders who may become presidents in the future. The program aims to enhance their leadership and management skills, and to provide insights into current trends, needs, and challenges in higher education.
The program is unique and tailored to individual needs, combining theoretical learning with practical components, group work, and mentoring. Topics covered include: Achieving goals and impact, institutional mission, vision and planning, governance of universities and colleges, caring for the development and success of students, the role of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in higher education, implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, crisis management, innovation in the post-pandemic era, quality assurance, accreditation and ratings, internationalization, gender equality, diversity, institutional development, diversified sources of income and many others.
Global experts and speakers from higher education, including current and former presidents from various universities and institutions worldwide, are involved in the implementation of the program.
