On September 12-14, the president of Caucasus University – Dr. Kakha Shengelia - took part in the annual conference of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) as the chairman of the governing board.
The event was hosted by IAUP Secretary General-elect and Osaka University of Commerce Vice President Tatsuro Tanioka and Kobe Design University Rector Ichiro Tanioka.
The meeting was also attended by the vice-president of Caucasus University in the direction of internationalization - Irena Melua, as well as the members of the IAUP executive committee, senior advisers, members of the management board, etc.
Within the framework of the conference, several panel sessions were held on such topics as: transformational leadership in higher education; graduate development and employment; Women's leadership - challenges and opportunities; The changing dynamics of higher education - student enrollment trends; Artificial intelligence and technologies and more.
Within the framework of the visit, on September 13, a meeting of the IAUP Executive Committee was held, at which the members discussed two candidates for the position of President of the International Association of University Presidents for the years 2027-2030. Dr. Tomás Morales, President of California State University, San Bernardino (USA), was proposed for representation on the Governing Board.
On September 14, a meeting of the IAUP Governing Board was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Kakha Shengelia. Council members discussed the candidacy of Dr. Tomás Morales for the 2027-2030 IAUP President-Elect, as recommended by the Executive Committee. The majority evaluated it positively and also agreed on further procedures related to the elections. In addition to the above, the members of the council discussed the current programs, approved new members of the organization, discussed the activities of the current year and planned the events of 2024.
