International Conference "Two Iberias - Two Gates of Europe"

On June 13, Caucasus University hosted the international conference titled "Two Iberias - Two Gates of Europe." The scientific forum opened on June 12 at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The conference is organized by Complutense University of Madrid along with two universities in Georgia.

 

Researchers from Spain, Germany, Italy, and Great Britain, alongside Georgian scientists, gathered at the conference to discuss the two Iberian cultures and their study.

 

The conference participants were welcomed by Kakha Shengelia, President of Caucasus University; Erekle Astakhishvili, Vice Rector of Tbilisi State University; David Hernández de la Fuente, Professor at Complutense University of Madrid; and Ekaterine Kobakhidze, Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University.  At the second plenary session and parallel sections of the conference—"Two Iberias-A Link Through the Ages? Problems of Historical and Linguistic Relations of Mediterranean Cultures "—15 reports were presented, followed by an interesting discussion. Translators from Georgia, Spain, and Argentina convened at a round table during the conference. At the conclusion of the event, Marcos Granados Gomez, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Georgia, visited Caucasus University. The guests were treated to performances by the folklore and dance ensembles of Caucasus University, and a tasting session featuring Georgian and Spanish wines was also organized.

 

It is noteworthy that the conference will be held biennially, with the next scientific discussion scheduled to be hosted by Complutense University of Madrid.
