19 October 2026

On 16 October, Sukhumi State University hosted the International Scientific Conference “Peace and Conflict Resolution: EU Challenges and Their Impact on Georgia,” held within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module EUPEACE and Erasmus Days.

Guranda Tchelidze, Professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of the Caucasus and Professor of the Jean Monnet Chair “EU for Peace, Prosperity and Security” (EU-PPS), presented a paper at the conference online.  Her presentation addressed higher education, the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Union’s enlargement packages. Professor Tchelidze examined the interrelationship between these areas and the process of Europeanisation, and explored how Europeanisation can contribute to sustainable development, including in the field of higher education. The presentation was followed by an engaging discussion, during which she answered several questions from the audience.
