Writing Correctly in Georgian

27 April 2026

On April 25, Vilnius University hosted the first event within the framework of the project “I Love Georgian – My State Language!”, initiated by Mariam Manjgaladze.

As part of the event, representatives of the Georgian diaspora took part in a Georgian-language dictation. It was particularly gratifying that, alongside Georgian participants, Lithuanian biochemist Danas Klimavičius also joined the dictation. For this occasion, a passage was selected from “Integration”, a short story by contemporary Lithuanian author and Chair of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union, Birutė Jonuškaitė.

The Lithuanian people’s attitude towards their native language is exemplary. We hope that we, too, will further strengthen our own sense of responsibility: to write and speak in correct Georgian and, at least once a year, even symbolically, to assess and improve our command of the language.

On April 28, at the closing event of the Georgian Language Days at Vilnius University, the President of Caucasus University will present gifts to the authors of the best written works. All participants will receive certificates.

The event was organized by Caucasus University and Vilnius University, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Georgia, the Georgian Calligraphers Association, the Lithuanian Writers’ Union, and Intellect Publishing House.

It is noteworthy that the project “I Love Georgian – My State Language!” was founded ten years ago at Vilnius University.
