On November 8, the auditorium named after the Doctor of historical sciences and Professor Paata Gergaia was opened at Caucasus University.
The event was attended by Kakha Shengelia, president of the university, along with administration representatives, members of Paata’s family, colleagues, and other guests. Kakha Shengelia spoke about Paata Gergaia and other speakers also highlighted his professionalism and personal qualities.
Paata Gergaia had been involved in scientific and social activities across various organizations, including the Department of Monuments Protection at the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Georgia as well as the State Agency for Religious Issues. He has also contributed to the newspapers “Matsne” and “Akhali Qartuli Gazeti”.
Since 2018, Paata Gergaia served as an affiliated professor at the Caucasus University School of Humanities and Social Sciences, where he actively engaged in research and teaching. During his time at the university, he authored seven scientific monographs and numerous articles. Prior to this, he had published approximately 60 journalistic and analytical articles along with three books. His major work, “Great Russian Invasion”, was also in preparation for publication.
The passing of Mr. Paata Gergaia is a profound loss for his family and loved ones, for Caucasus University, and for the entire Georgian academic community.
