CU Professor’s Scientific Article in Internationally Refereed Journal

The internationally refereed journal The Catholic Historical Review (Vol. 110, Issue 4, 2024), published by the Catholic University of America (Washington), has featured a scientific article by Caucasus University Professor David Tinikashvili. The article is titled “Georgia and the Crusaders: Political and Military Alliance.”

 

The article, based on all valuable Georgian and foreign sources, explores various aspects of the historical relations between Georgians and the Crusaders (military, political, diplomatic, religious, and social), it demonstrates that Georgians and Crusaders were allies. The Crusaders and Georgians, both opposing the Muslim empires, shared a common enemy. Consequently, the historian of David the Builder connects the Crusaders' success with the strengthening of Georgia. However, for various reasons, systematic and coordinated joint military activities between the Crusaders and the Georgians were impossible.
