On 16 September 2015, over 200 students from all over the country took part in a conference "The Ozone Layer – A Shield of Life". The day also saw awarding the winners of a contest for ozone posters.
Young environmentalists – researchers and graphic designers, received prizes and certificates from Gigla Agulashvili, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, and Niels Scott, Head of UNDP in Georgia.
"Georgia contributes to the global success in protecting the ozone layer and moves forward to downsizing consumption of ozone-depleting substances. Environmental education is crucial for making this success a lasting achievement", Minister Agulashvili said.
The educational campaign has been organised by the LEPL "Environmental Information and Education Centre" with support from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and UNDP. The campaign brings together educational institutions – schools and universities across Georgia.
