Abstract:
Microplastics, which are widely distributed in the environment, pose a potential threat to maternal and fetal health. The study aims to assess the impact of microplastic exposure during pregnancy on fetal development.
The research revealed that microplastics can cross the placental barrier and cause endocrine disruptions and inflammatory processes. As a result, microplastics may contribute to low birth weight, preterm birth, and developmental abnormalities.
