TV Pirveli violated the principle of accuracy of information regarding Caucasus University

According to the decision of the Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics, the journalists of TV Pirveli News Service Etuna Intskirveli and Miranda Baghaturia violated the first principle of the Charter of Journalistic Ethics.

Caucasus University has filed a statement with the Charter alleging violation of the principle of accuracy and truth. The issue concerned the material prepared by TV Pirveli about the planned examination process at Caucasus University, in which the university was not given the opportunity to express its position and respond to baseless allegations.

 

The controversial story - "Students vs. Caucasus University" aired on January 28, 2021. News anchor Etuna Intskirveli and journalist Miranda Baghaturia blamed the university for allegedly allowing Caucasus University administration to access students' personal information on the online examination platform set up during the pandemic. At the same time, there were a number of unspecified details in the material, the unanswered release of which damaged the process and the image of Caucasus University, as well as the viewer's interest in receiving correct and comprehensive information.
