INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL "MULTICULTURAL DEMOCRACIES"

On July 10-14, Lopota Spa Resort is holding a summer school on the topic: "Multicultural Democracies", sponsored by University of Lausanne, with the support of three Georgian universities - Caucasus University, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). The summer school aimed to study democracy in the context of ethnic, linguistic and religious heterogeneity, within which theoretical and practical training was carried out on important and interesting topics.

 

24 students of bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs of partner universities participated in the work of the summer school, including representatives of ethnic minorities and 7 students of Caucasus University School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Governance. Theoretical and practical training on important and interesting topics was carried out within the framework of the summer school. From the Swiss side, the lectures were led by Professor Sean Müller of the University of Lausanne and Professor Nenad Stojanović of the University of Geneva; Director of the International Law Institute - TSU, head of the Jean Monnet department, Prof. Irine Kurdadze; professor of Caucasus University, Guranda Chelidze and lecturer of Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, doctoral student of Central European University, Nino Gozalishvili.

 

The lecture topics were related to various issues related to ethnic minorities.

 

Swiss Ambassador to Georgia, Heidi Grau visited the summer school as a special guest, she welcomed the participants of the summer school, noted the importance of such meetings, the motivation of young people and the ongoing interesting lectures.

 

The work of the summer school is coming to an end, but the future cooperation with the University of Lausanne, Caucasus University and other partner universities continues, in order to further internationalize the educational programs.
