CTS Field Trip to Kakheti

18 June 2025

On June 14, juniors and seniors of Caucasus School of Tourism went on a field trip to the Kakheti region as part of their courses in Ecotourism, Agrotourism, and Tourism Planning and Place Management.

The students visited the Kvetera Fortress, where they followed an interpretive route developed by the Georgian Ecotourism Association last year, using modern interpretation methods. While following the route, the participants learned about the diversity and importance of the local natural and cultural heritage.

The second part of the lecture was held at the Lagazi Wine Cellar, where the students had the opportunity to learn about traditional Georgian winemaking processes and working conditions in the cellar. They browsed plots of Georgian endemic wheat varieties and tasted samples of local cuisine that combined traditional knowledge and culinary innovations.

The field trip was fully funded by Caucasus University and aimed to provide students with practical experience at real tourist sites in the context of regional development.
