29 May 2026

On May 28, Caucasus University hosted a public lecture by Professor Temur Khutsishvili of the School of Tourism on the topic: Printed, Archival and Oral Materials for Preparing a Sololaki Tour.”

During the lecture, important issues related to preparing a guide’s narrative were discussed, including the appropriate balance between facts found in written and documentary sources and the guide’s storytelling, so that communication with tourists does not resemble an academic lecture. Particular attention was also paid to the effective use of oral accounts, materials from the nineteenth-century “yellow press,” and the interpretation of historical facts.

Participants were also given a virtual tour of Sololaki, offering them a fresh perspective on one of Tbilisi’s most distinctive historic districts.

The lecture sparked great interest among students and the wider audience and was followed by a discussion on the research and interpretation of tourist routes.
